About me

I am an advanced professional member of the Chartered Institute of Editing and Proofreading (CIEP) and was awarded a Licentiateship in Editorial Skills from the City and Guilds Institute in March 2013.

I have qualifications from the Publishing Training Centre in copy-editing (merit) and proofreading (distinction).

Recent clients have included Boydell & Brewer; Cambridge University Press (Greece & Rome, Journal of Global History, Historical Journal, Ecclesiastical Law Journal, history monographs); the Royal Society (Notes & Records, Biographical Memoirs); Yale University Press; various individual academic authors.

I am also a tutor for the CIEP's online courses in proofreading and copy-editing.

I have a doctorate in the history of science (University of Cambridge) and have also undertaken degree-level work in chemistry, earth sciences, and molecular biology. I have published two books and have written articles for a number of other books and journals.

I have held various research and curatorial posts in national and provincial museums, including the curatorship of an important academic film museum in Exeter.

I am a semi-professional singer, with a particular interest in Renaissance music.
